What is the laminar flow hood?

The laminar flow hood is one piece of equipment that can shield and isolate the operator from the product, and its main purpose is to avoid product contamination.

 

The air sucked from the clean room pass through the operating area vertically through the HEPA filter by the fan installed in the top pressurized cabin, providing ISO 5 unidirectional airflow for critical areas.

 

The exhaust gas is discharged from below and returns to the clean room area. It is mainly composed of the cabinet, fan, high-efficiency air filter, damping layer, lamps, and so on.

The clean laminar flow hood forms a uniform layer after passing the air through the high-efficiency filter at a certain wind speed so that the clean air flows in a vertical unidirectional manner, thereby ensuring the high cleanliness required by the process in the working area.

The differences between laminar flow hood and FFU

Many people have questions about the difference between the bottom layer flow hood and FFU.FFU refers to the unit of fan + filter, while refers to the purification that can form a vertical unidirectional flow.

 

For equipment, from the structural point of view, the hood is bracket installation, and the FFU is hoisting. The  hood can be regarded as an evolutionary version of FFU, with flexible installation and more convenient filter replacement. The laminar flow hood adds a flow-sharing plate. It improves the uniformity of the air output, protects the filter to a certain extent, and has a more beautiful appearance. The return air location is also different.

The FFU returns the air from the ceiling to the ceiling, while the laminar flow hood returns the air from the room. There is a difference between the structure and the installation location, but the principle is the same, and they are all equipment that purifies the air.

 

The application of laminar flow hood

There are two types: internal fan and external fan, and there are two installation methods: suspension and floor stand.
