The clean room is different from the general comfort air-conditioned room. Because the indoor temperature and humidity control require higher precision. Meanwhile, there are also higher requirements for the cleanliness of the air. This can lead to more air changes, and there is more new fresh air coming in.

Here is an example, the production of the workshop of a pharmaceutical factory generally requires a temperature of 22°C ± two °C and relative humidity of 55% ± 5%.

In addition, the external temperature and humidity changes have a greater impact on the indoor temperature and humidity. So it needs a reasonable temperature and humidity control plan to ensure the indoor temperature and humidity meet the design requirements.

Why do clean rooms need temperature and humidity control?

The process requirements will determine the temperature and humidity of the clean room. But once the condition can meet the process requirements, we should also care about the staff’s comforts.

With the increase in air cleanliness requirements, there is a trend that the process has more and more stringent requirements on temperature and humidity.

How To Control The Clean Room Temperature

What problems will the high clean room temperature cause?

When the relative humidity exceeds 55%, condensation will occur on the wall of the cooling water pipe. If it occurs in a precision device or circuit, it will cause various accidents since it is easy to rust when the relative humidity is 50%.

In addition, when the humidity is too high, the water molecules in the air will chemically adsorb the dust on the surface of the silicon wafer to the surface, which is difficult to remove.

The higher the relative humidity, the adhesion is difficult to remove. But when the relative humidity is lower than 30%, the particles are also easily adsorbed on the surface due to the action of electrostatic force, and a large number of semiconductor devices are prone to breakdown. The best temperature range for silicon wafer production is 35-45%.

How To Control The Clean Room Temperature

The features of the clean room temperature control?

The process of simply heating or cooling the humid air is a process remaining the stability of the temperature. When the coil heat the air, the temperature rises, and the relative humidity drops. On the contrary, for the cooling process, the temperature drops, and the relative humidity rises accordingly.

Therefore, we can conclude that two different directions control the quantities. The temperature and humidity will change in the same trend at the same time. It is impossible to achieve by simply relying on the heating/cooling process.

The cooling and dehumidification process is when the humid air is cooled to saturation and then continues to refrigerate. The moist air passes through the cooling coil and precipitates water droplets, thereby reducing the absolute humidity and dehumidifying.

Therefore, there are five parts in the air treatment process: heating, heating and humidifying, cooling, cooling and reheating, and cooling and humidifying.
